Last week we had the pleasure of having Two P7 classes from Brooklands Primary School join us over two days.
The theme was ‘Dig for Victory’ and ‘Make do and mend’. The class were split into two groups and joined our residents and staff in our sensory garden. One half planted flowers and vegetables whilst learning about the ‘Dig for Victory Campaign’ and hearing stories from our residents about what it was like for them when they were their age. The other half of the class learnt about ‘Make do and Mend’ they each had a go at sewing and using the sewing machine. Our residents who join this group told stories of having their socks mended as children and how unlike these days if something had a rip or tear it was mended and not thrown out.
All this was made possible by the Black Santa Appeal!
